bio
Singer, songwriter, and dancer Dashi started her musical journey as
a ballet
and contemporary dancer. After her studies
in Slovakia, her desire to enrich her performing experience led her
to The Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.
In 2016, Dashi discovered her natural skills for singing
and songwriting. She cut her teeth collaborating with a great jazz piano player and composer Jakub Tokoly for more than two years. Over the time, she became a ninja for a live gig kind of lifestyle
and soon understood this was the path she had to take, Dashi performed with
the phenomenal percussionist, Hearn Gadbois (Patti Smith, Suzanne Vega). They played a number of sold out shows together in 2018. This initial journey of taking every chance, playing even the tiniest possible music bar in Prague prepared Dashi
for presenting her original music in a confident and captivating way.
Her first significant original music live performance took place
in March 2019
at Geoff Tyson's Songwriters' Stories in Prague's La Loca music club. She presented her first original songs accompanied by violin player Filip Kottek. Right after
the performance, she was discovered by a legendary American rock star, Dan Reed (Dan Reed Network) who offered
a collaboration. Dashi released 2 singles produced by Dan,
and released two videos, directed by Paul Mortlock, and Barbora Vaculova. These first two releases were premiered to an international audience at Sofar Sounds Prague and Avoid Sessions
to critical acclaim. Throughout the year 2019, she formed her first band that played sold out gigs at music venues all over Prague. Over the pandemic times, Dashi took part in an online URBAN KINGDOM music festival, where more than 50 female artists from around the world were chosen to unite and share their original music.
In 2020, adapting to the brand new covid-19 situation, DASHI redirected her work
from playing live almost every day
to songwriting. Together with Geoff Tyson (T-Ride, Snake River Conspiracy),
she released another single and video - Ordinary Things. In addition
to Geoff's stellar guitar playing and singing, he took care of the single as a producer,
as well. They presented the song to the world live on DiscovrTV online concerts platform, as well. During the pandemic and subsequent lockdown, Dashi was forced into her songwriting bubble which resulted in the new EP Unreal. The pandemic and year-long lockdown had unintentional positive effects on Dashi’s music, as it pushed her
to focus on her original music.
Right now, she is back to performing live as well as working on her new singles regularly. Her style is influenced by many other artists (Norah Jones, Mazzy Star, Massive Attack) and was once described as darkpop that delivers contrasts between dreams and reality as well as endless melancholy and sharp mind.
